UMURDA staff supported to develop a rolling 8-Year Strategic Plan

The 8-Year strategic plan has a maternal and child healthcare component that will be implemented with the support of ASK Dokta, a digital maternal and child healthcare solution

Econet Enterprises Ltd successfully provided support to develop an 8-year strategic plan (2023- 2030) for a total of 15 staff at the Uganda Muslim Rural Development Agency in Bugiri district. The two day workshop that started on Thursday 22nd December 2022 involved a total of 12 staff (including senior managers and field officers) and 3 board members. On the first day of the workshop participants were introduced to current concepts in strategic planning; top notch tools for strategic planning, steps taken already to formulate the strategic plan and the way forward. Participants then worked in groups to formulate an eight- year strategic plan for: Health,Nutrition and Livelihoods; Water and Sanitation, Environment and Climate Change; Education and Research; Islamic Education and Organizational strengthening. Each of the groups was encouraged to include and enterprise component under their strategy. The health group agreed to partner with Econet to integrate an 8-year maternal and child healthcare component as part of the strategic plan. Econet is now working on formalizing a teaming agreement to enable both parties mobilize joint resources and implement the the maternal and child care component as part of the health programme in 8 districts where UMURDA has community outreach programmes.
